Magnetic Dreams producer Jeff Galle pitched the concept of Blake and the Oak Ridge Boys as country critters living and loving around a local watering hole, Lake Shelton. When we landed the job, one of the few notes we got was that Blake needed to be a DEER. Blake Shelton loves deer, he even thanks them on every album.
And, although it’s no easy task to caricature someone as a deer, Blake Buck was born.

A standard music video structure often commands A, B, and C visual treatments and the central task of a creative director is to hire the right person for the job and invite them to do their thing within the aesthetic of lake life that I created:
Rickey Boyd - fastest pencil in the South, king of caricature
Joe Spadaford - on key backgrounds
Amanda Wood - on detailed title card art
Trea Bailey - designing country critters and thoughtful details
Ben Fosselman - makes me laugh
John T. Hill - brings the fire
Kim Cranfield & Ashley Malone - my right and left hands during this time
